The River Mountains Loop is an outstanding walking/bike trail and one of the best free outdoor activities in Las Vegas. It forms a big circle between the east edge of Henderson and Lake Mead. The trail is well maintained and goes through some fantastic scenery. Although you’re close to Las Vegas, most of the time there is little sign of civilization except the trail itself. If you’re not enjoying the view of Lake Mead, there are plenty of mountains and desert scenery to look at. There are no major street crossings. Just a few minor roads in the vicinity of the Boulder Beach.

The River Mountains Loop Trail is approximately 34 miles in length and surrounds the River Mountains connecting Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Henderson, Boulder City and the rest of the Las Vegas Valley.

To better accommodate outdoor enthusiasts, you’ll find paved and concrete segments 12 feet in width, for hikers and road cyclists, and in certain segments a second trail for equestrian use.

Fun Fact:
The trail is rich in cultural history, which can be experienced through various petroglyphs, arrowheads and volcanic rocks.
