Matheson Hammock Park is a 630-acre urban oasis just south of Coral Gables. Opened in 1930, it features a manmade atoll pool flushed naturally by the tide.
This is more than a park, it’s home to a restaurant, nature trails, pavilions, and a sailing and boating school.
This beach is a hidden gem of Miami. Not overly crowded, comfortably small, surrounded by mangroves. You can see the sunset from one side and then see the skyline of Miami from the other, you can hike trail and have dinner at the Red Fish Grill.
Fun Fact: Matheson Hammock Park was the first public park to be established in Dade County.
